Some of the issues we have tackled or still in the process of tackling include:
-
Health including Patients Forums, Rooting out Age Discrimination, Health and Active life in older age, Chiropody services, hospital food and hospital cleanliness, falls and accidents in older age, intermediate care (a new service aimed at preventing people going into hospital, or enabling them to return to their own homes with a team of people to assist to rehabilitate and ensure independence).
-
Transport Group members have recently carried out a bus survey – results have been sent to Brighton and Hove Buses for further consultation.
We have also campaigned for the continuation of the hospital car service. We are also involved with petitioning for free transport for over sixties between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
-
The Environment We are involved with the Brighton and Hove Street Doctors Scheme which is going to change the way we throw away our rubbish, and clean up the streets of Brighton and Hove.
-
Policing We are involved in campaigning to get more police on the streets of Brighton and Hove. We have worked with local older people to combat anti-social behaviour.
We also provide a six monthly telephone survey the Meals of Wheels service. |
